Hello dear friends, a post from the farm is months overdue!! Some days it seems too much has been happening and other days not enough has been happening...so here we are. Time to jump in feet first!
We last left off with me recovering from a broken leg. That is thankfully all history now. It did however throw off some of the work we were doing to our old farm house that was not part of the major renovations from last year. I am of course referring to the laundry room which remains a work in progress. When we finally finish this project I will do a separate blog post devoted to those efforts. What I will share is that we were not able to salvage as many of the old pine cupboards as we had hoped. We do have the cupboards installed, a big cast iron laundry room sink is in place and we finished one wall with reclaimed brick. I am very happy with the progress so far.

We used to call this bedroom Kodiak's room after one of our dogs. This room was included in our renovations from last year and is now a little smaller than it was originally. Annoying that a few inches here or there can make such a big difference! The jury in my mind is still out on this room. I furnished it with my old furniture from when I was a little girl which I painted an off white colour and added stenciling to the drawers. I have dark blue and white knobs which I didnt like with the first shade of blue I used. I then selected a different darker shade of blue to match the knobs....and I still dont know. In the interests of putting the room together I am forging ahead and can think about it when the weather gets colder and we spend more time indoors.
I spent a couple of days visiting my dearest friend swimming in her pool, chatting, lounging and shopping. The rule is I must always come home with new stuffies for Abby and Vera.

Our family has grown by two new fur children. This is Rocket and Sprocket! They are brothers we adopted from a local rescue. They are absolutely adorable and we are so happy to be able to provide them with a safe and loving home. Two months later and we still struggle to tell which one is which one.
I am trying to spend some time each day in the loft working on my multiple quilting projects. This quilt was gifted to my niece who recently had a baby.
This quilt was made for my dear friend's mother who sadly passed away the same weekend I finished it. Now it is displayed on a railing in my friend's home and I am glad that it gives her joy.
We have had such a busy spring and summer so far which seems odd as there is very little to show for it on my blog. Last week we finally trekked down to our lake house to set up the furniture and enjoy some sandwiches for lunch. The beach themed insulated bag fits nicely with the theme of the lake house!
We always seem to be working on some crazy project. Last summer we ordered another bunkie from Bunkie Life. We are calling this one our Christmas Tree Cottage. When complete it will be used to store the large quantity of Christmas trees and decorations which currently take up far too much room in our utilities basement. We are naturally going to have to decorate it!
We are rethinking our fire pit. Last year we were not able to use it because we had fire bans in place. This year we are considering how to make this area more useable. The late afternoon suns blasts this area which makes it very hot and the umbrella only provides limited shade. We are also thinking about the design of the fire ring and are thinking that if we add pavers around the bottom it would slow some of the air flow which would tame the fire somewhat. The wind swirls ashes, embers and smoke onto anyone sitting in this area.
And speaking of smoke here are a couple of pictures of the smoke that blew into our area from the devastating fires in Northern Ontario. The devastation is heart breaking. I cant imagine what it would be like to see entire communities go up in flames.
