Hello dear friends,
This little barn bird feeder has been here forever. We have it mounted on a post in a garden where it can be easily viewed from our old kitchen window. As we are still under stay at home guidance I have been spending a lot more time watching the bird activity! It is a amazing to see how many different types of birds come to visit this feeder. This year we have been keeping the feeders topped up much later than usual and now that we realize how many visitors we have we will continue to put out seed throughout the year.
A colourful bird convention!

A social gathering. I noticed that the chipmunks have tunneled a hole in the lawn which is a little odd as we have 3 dogs and 2 cats. |
Who doesnt love goldfinches? When I was growing up we used to call them wild canaries.
Mourning Dove
Action shot! This feeder is hanging in a tree by the koi pond. I couldnt seem to find this bird in our field guide so I tried an online bird identification app. It said that this is a rose breasted grosbeak. I checked the field guide again and it was there. Being a novice bird watcher I must say that tiny variations from one bird to the next is dizzying!
Everyone knows a blue jay! (yes, the bird bath does need straightening!)Sparrows? Perhaps a White Crowned Sparrow.
American Goldfinches.
While working in the gardens today I was surprised by a hummingbird that was flitting around some pink lamium that is just starting to bloom. And one morning this past week while watching the feeder I was excited to see a Baltimore Oriole. Unfortunately I didnt have my camera at hand.
Thank you for visiting and I hope everyone is still safe and healthy. For our Canadian friends Happy Victoria Day!
Niebieska sójka jest przepiękna i egzotyczna dla mnie. Nie ma ich w Polsce. Garrulus glandarius żyje w Polsce. Ja jestem zakochana w twoim karmniku :) I greet and I invite you to my blog.
